Protocols and techniques for a scalable atom-photon quantum network

چکیده
Quantum networks based on atomic qubits and scattered photons provide a promising way to build a largescale quantum information processor. We review quantum protocols for generating entanglement and operating gates between two distant atomic qubits, which can be used for constructing scalable atom–photon quantum networks. We emphasize the crucial role of collecting light from atomic qubits for large-scale networking and describe two techniques to enhance light collection using reflective optics or optical cavities. A brief survey of some applications for scalable and efficient atom–photon networks is also provided.

A Non-Demolition Photon Counting Method by Four-Level Inverted Y-Type Atom
The semi-classical model of atom-field interaction has been fully studied for some multilevel atoms, e.g. Vee, L, Cascade X , Y, and inverted Y and so on. This issue is developed into the full-quantum electrodynamics formalism, where the probe and coupling electromagnetic fields are quantized. In this article, we investigate the full-quantum model of absorption and dispersion spectrum of trappe...
متن کاملPhoton-photon entanglement with a single trapped atom.
An experiment is performed where a single rubidium atom trapped within a high-finesse optical cavity emits two independently triggered entangled photons. The entanglement is mediated by the atom and is characterized both by a Bell inequality violation of S=2.5, as well as full quantum-state tomography, resulting in a fidelity exceeding F=90%. The combination of cavity-QED and trapped atom techn...
متن کاملEntangling single- and N-atom qubits for fast quantum state detection and transmission
Isolated neutral atoms trapped by electromagnetic fields are being studied intensively as a way of implementing a scalable quantum processor. In this approach to quantum logic the qubit basis states are represented by different ground-state hyperfine levels. The hyperfine states have decoherence times that are potentially many seconds long, limited mainly by weak interactions with the trapping ...

New paradigms for optical physics emerge from atoms trapped in one and two-dimensional dielectric waveguides [1,2]. Photons propagating in the guided modes of the waveguides can mediate long-range atom-atom interactions. In a complimentary fashion, photon-photon interactions can arise by way of the underlying lattice of atoms. This new future of atom nanophotonics has the potential to provide t...
متن کاملScalable photonic quantum computation through cavity-assisted interactions.
We propose a scheme for scalable photonic quantum computation based on cavity-assisted interaction between single-photon pulses. The prototypical quantum controlled phase-flip gate between the single-photon pulses is achieved by successively reflecting them from an optical cavity with a single-trapped atom. Our proposed protocol is shown to be robust to practical noise and experimental imperfec...
